Freedom of the Borough honour
We were delighted to hear, Dr Philip Whitbourn OBE PhD, FSA, FRIBA, FRTPI is to receive the honour of the Freedom of the Borough from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. Members may remember reading his series of articles on the more noteworthy buildings facing the commons, in past copies of Common Ground. A ceremony to present Dr Whitbourn with the Freedom of the Borough will take place on Wednesday 19 April in the town hall.
Wildchild is back Free Forest School sessions are back on the 4th and 5th April. For more information
West Kent Community Diggers now have a permanent display cabinet showcasing a selection of archaeological finds from their Rusthall site. This was co-funded by The Friends Of The Commons and the Rusthall Local History Group. Artefacts include a wide selection of prehistoric stone tools as well as late medieval to early post medieval pottery. The collection highlights a long history of human activity at Rusthall dating back many thousands of years. The items can be viewed during normal opening hours at Rusthall Library. See photo
The first two projects we are financing this year have already been completed. Denny Bottom and the heather beds in the Marshall plan area projects are to be phased over several years. We should see even more wildlife using both areas from the spring. Click the links to see photos.
